Liaising with family members and friends to collect all information and details necessary to create a personal and heartfelt ceremony.

Creative inspiration for ceremonies and inclusion of rituals.
A selection of readings and music.
Ceremony writing and delivery.
Eulogy writing assistance (when there is a need – this is something I encourage family members to do themselves as part of their healing process but am also here to help where needed).
Use of a high-quality PA with a wireless microphone, and your ceremony music played via Bluetooth.
Ceremony locations
When deciding on a location to hold a funeral or memorial service I recommend taking into consideration where your-loved one found peace and happiness in their lives. Did they love going to the beach or being on/near the ocean? Either a beach location along Four Mile Beach, or at Rex Smeal Park or Little Cove may be the perfect spot to celebrate their life. Or if you would prefer to be indoors, the Sugar Wharf and Saint Mary’s by the Sea both offer beautiful views of the ocean.
The Funeral Industry in Australia is evolving in a way that allows and encourages people to create ceremonies for their loved ones that are unique and personal. Whilst you may choose to have a traditional service and committal many people are also leaning towards cremation and then a memorial in a place of their choice, one truly reflective of the person passed.
The Port Douglas region is rich in beautiful places of nature that offer stillness and comfort for such intimate ceremonies. Please contact me any time to discuss these possibilities.
Other local venues that offer facilities for groups to gather and reflect are:
Port Douglas Community Hall, Buffs Hall Mossman, The Crystal Chapel at the Sheraton Mirage, The Palmer Sea Reef Lounge at Paradise Links, and St Crispins Café.

Rituals
Rituals are a beautiful way to honour life and connect us to our emotions and to others. This can be something as simple as building a little altar with a special photo and fresh flowers and candles.
Whilst my daughters and I recently navigated the death of my beautiful Oma we built a space for her that each of us could turn to when our hearts were full of sadness and longing. The simple act of looking at her photo, placing flowers there and lighting candles was a comfort that eased our hurt in such a tangible way.
Rituals can be included in ceremonies but can also be something you do, just for you, in your own home.
End of life support
Just as death, and the circumstances surrounding each death are unique, so too are the emotions and capabilities of those saying goodbye.
My services as a funeral celebrant and death doula are also unique – I am here to meet you where you need me to be, to offer support in whichever capacity it is required and to walk beside you for the bits that are too hard to walk alone.
I am also here to offer support to those who are facing death and require assistance or guidance in navigating the sea of loose ends, including but not limited to, their End of Life Plan, Death Care Wishes, Advanced Health Care Plans, Enduring Guardian, Power of Attorney, Last Will and Testament. Having these things in place is the greatest kindness you can do for those who will be left behind, coming to terms with their emotions and facing these matters when you are no longer present to guide them.
Please contact me to learn the many ways I can help you and your family navigate this time.

OTHER CELEBRANT SERVICES
Arriving at this place, in the funeral and end-of-life space was something that unfolded naturally through my work as a Marriage Celebrant over the past 9 years. I chose to keep these two services separate because the need for each individual service is unique (even though I believe the dance of love and life are the two most fundamental elements of our human experience). If you are seeking my services as a Marriage Celebrant, please contact me via thelovechonicles.com.au

Delivering heart-based ceremonies, that connect those present, honour those passed, and begin the healing journey of those saying goodbye.
