Hi, I’m Anna

I consider it a privilege, as a funeral celebrant to help people create ceremonies for their loved-ones. Ceremonies that not only honour, reflect and celebrate their lives but that also help those left behind say goodbye in a way that allows them to begin their personal journey of acceptance and healing

What we do…

Our intention at Candlenut Funerals is to create ceremonies that genuinely reflect the life and spirit of those passed. We work alongside families to craft personalised and meaningful ceremonies that bring comfort and connection to those present, in the hope that it paves the way for a gentle healing process.

The Candlenut Tree

The Candlenut or Kukui tree symbolises enlightenment, learning, protection, wisdom and peace. The direct translation to English is light, and it represents hope and renewal.

The Candlenut Tree thrives in the Port Douglas region and there are many in the Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge, Atherton Tablelands, and scattered throughout Mossman and Cairns.

I believe the stigma around death in our culture is one of fear and it is my hope to create a space for people and their families facing death to do so with support and courage and with as much peace in their hearts as possible

PAULO COEHLO

‘We never lose our loved ones. They accompany us; they don’t disappear from our lives. We are merely in different rooms.’

It’s a privilege to conduct ceremonies in a region so rich in indigenous culture. These lands (like all lands across our vast continent) hold stories of the Dreamtime and its people have a connection to the land that stretches back millennia. I pay my respects to the Kuku Yalanji, the traditional custodians of this area and the Elders past, present and emerging.
